I am a Memorial Village newborn photographer and this most recent session took place in the Heights area of Houston. I just love doing sessions in the Heights as most homes are older, yet so unique and beautiful. This was another session with fantastic lighting which was appreciated as I try to stick with natural light photography.

Their nursery was such a dream! Hallie (mama)’s friend is an interior designer and helped set it up. I would say that they nailed it! Such a gorgeous set up with incredibly large windows to provide for that natural light glow. I am a sucker for creams, whites, gold, and tans so this room was just glorious to photograph in. The closet doors have such character to them, don’t you think? Definitely impressed with the outcome of their hard work!

A helpful tip for a newborn photography session is swaddling your baby.

Two reasons that this is helpful:

1. It keeps your baby warm which means they most likely will feel content and maybe even sleep. 2. It helps make your baby look like a teeny tiny newborn. : )

I recommend swaddling with a neutral color wrap and one that is easy to swaddle with (material definitely matters and different types work better than others). If your baby tends to break out of it, it could be the material being used, or you can try to use something snug to wear underneath to help with that like a swaddle cocoon sack. We were in great luck because this baby had just that to wear underneath and an auntie who has had years of experience swaddling babies!

I just love the way these two look at their sweet new baby girl. Such a dream to photograph this family during such a precious season!
